Nuclear Magnetism in Solid Methane
نویسنده
چکیده
For more than 30 years, the observation of nuclear magnetic interactions in solid methane has given valuable information on the reorientational dynamics of its molecules. Recently, measurements of some basic properties of nuclear absorption lineshapes, such as the. integrated intensity and the second moment, have revealed the rates at which the populations of various molecular orientational states approach thermal equilibrium. The study of solid methane has attracted widespread attention from physicists and chemists for good reason. As is the case with solid hydrogen, solid methane and its deuterated isotopes are relatively simple materials. They offer the theorist the challenge of predicting the structure and properties of the solid phases from first principles because detailed information is available about the

Estimation of landfill gas generation in a municipal solid waste disposal site by LandGEM mathematical model
Anaerobic decomposition of organic compounds in landfills is responsible for generation of greenhouse gases. The present study aimed to determine the total gas and methane emission from a landfill located in Hamedan (west of Iran) from 2011 to 2030. LandGEM 3.02 model was used to estimate the gas emission with the volumetric methane percent of 60%, production potential of 107, and methane gener...
متن کامل0 Nuclear Spin - Ordering Due to Correlated Atomic Motion in bcc
We propose a new way to treat nuclear magnetism of solid He. We argue that the magnetic interaction arises indirectly as a consequence of correlated zero-point motion of the ions. This motion lowers the energy of the ground state, and results in a coherent state of oscillating electric dipoles. Distortion of the electronic wavefunctions leads to hyperfine magnetic interactions with the nuclear ...

Proton magnetic resonance datal) in solid methane were analyzed by using the one parameter theory2) and the perturbation method. Assuming a single molecule as a unit of reorientation we obtained from the spin-lattice relaxation time the result shown in Fig. 1, where loglo r c is plotted against reciprocal tem perature. r c decreases with increasing temperature and rather sudden alterations of t...
متن کاملSimulation of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell with External Steam Methane Reforming and Bypass
Fuel flexibility is a significant advantage of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and can be attributed to their high operating temperature. The eligibility of a combined heat and power (CHP) system has been investigated as a new power generation methode, in this study. Natural gas fueled SOFC power systems via methane steam reforming (MSR) yield electrical conversion efficiencies exceeding 50% and...
متن کاملEstimation of gas emission released from a municipal solid waste landfill site through a modeling approach: A case study, Sanandaj, Iran
Sanitary landfill is the common strategy for municipal solid waste management in developing countries. Anaerobic decomposition of disposed wastes in landfill under favorable conditions will lead to the landfill gas (LFG) emissions, considering as emerging air pollutants. The emission of greenhouse gases, including methane, resulting from municipal solid waste disposal and treatment processes ar...
